Predominately A Sad Week – Some Happy Notes

Well another week has rolled around young Bill Fuller has regaled us with his daily anecdotes and in the world of sport a lot has transpired ..

The mighty All Blacks gave the Wobblies a right good spanking 54/34 but had it not been for their resurgence in the 2nd half the score could have been 80/0 .. my take on this being both team put on their reserves for the second half the wallabies wannabies pulled their fingers out to impress the coach BUT our boys took their fingers off the pulse and backed off .. I can assure you this won’t happen on Saturday in Dunedin ..

For a change of pace I must say well done to the bad boy of Australian tennis Nick Kyrgios for playing brilliantly in Cincinnati and finishing R/up .. shows what he is really capable of when he puts his mind to it ..

I have covered the passing of the great Colin Pinetree Meads who will be surely missed but in another way his suffering is over and he can rest in peace ..

This leads me to the Women’s Rugby World Cup .. as important in the scheme of things as their male equivalent .. well the Black Ferns brushed aside the USA 45/12 in their semi with again Portia Woodman scoring 4 x tries and setting up a final with our old enemy ENG who defeated FR 20/3 .. this should be a beauty this weekend with my pick being the Ferns by 10 .. as for our golden girl Portia Woodman she should be awarded the NZ Player of the Year Award .. in my humble opinion .. by far the most dominant kiwi rugby player on the world stage this calendar year male or female ..

I invite comments ..

For the record FR and USA will battle out the Bronze medal while our neighbours across the ditch play for pride and either 5th/6th place with CAN .. good luck ladies …

Caitlin Bassett is the new Aussie Diamonds capt but with Laura Geitz looming on the horizon this could change , either way it would be a mistake not to pick her for the Comm Games ..

I conclude this week on a sad note with the passing of a courageous young lady in Hannah Rye who finally lost her battle with Ewing Sarcoma (cancer) .. this Hunter Valley lass loved life her family and friends and like me the Newcastle Knights so in this day and age of footy players behaving badly on and off the field it is a welcome sight to see one stand out .. Hannah’s last wish was to attend her school formal so after her school brought the date forward Trent Hodkinson from the Knights stood up and escorted her to the ball .. having seen the photo’s I can honestly say she looked a million bucks .. this vivacious young lady lived and enjoyed her brief life right to the end … and like the mighty Pinetree will be remembered forever ..

Sorry to end on a sad note but having recently lost a family member I can relate .. to the sporting world out their keep bringing me titbits to comment on and to the All Blacks and Black Ferns good luck .. but I suspect you won’t need it ..
Love you guys in Kahuland and we will talk again next week

Thanks Again Chris From Kahu Rugby And World Sports
